About us

Born in Fyshwick. Built for Canberra.

EZY CABS was started by two local taxi operators who wanted to work with a dispatch they could believe in. 3 years later, that's still the brief.

Our DNA

“Locally owned and operated.”

Not a slogan. A structure. EZY CABS is independently owned by Canberra drivers and operators — no overseas private equity, no gig-economy skim. Profits stay in the Capital region, and so do the people who make decisions.

Our story

Why the directors started another network.

Where it started — a 2021 Camry on a Fyshwick workshop floor.

It didn't start as a business plan. It started as a complaint. Two operators, both long-time Canberra drivers, had spent years plugging into dispatch networks run out of Sydney and Melbourne. When the rank got quiet, nobody answered. When a passenger left a handbag in the back seat, the lost-property process was a call-centre ticket that closed itself in five business days.

“We kept saying — someone should just build a proper local network. Real dispatchers who know the streets. A phone that actually gets answered. And a company that isn't trying to skim off the drivers.” Eventually they stopped saying it and did it.

EZY CABS launched cross-border ACT + NSW operations and a growing maxi fleet — every vehicle driven by someone who lives in the region. Three years on, we're still building the dispatch we'd want to drive for.

We're not the biggest. We're not the loudest. But when you call us at 3am because your flight's delayed, a real Canberran answers the phone. That's the point.

What we stand for

Four things we don't compromise on.

Local

Every dispatcher lives within a 20-minute drive of the office. They know the streets, the shortcuts, and the schools.

People-first

Call the office and a human picks up. Book a cab and a person drives it. Leave something behind and a real operator hunts it down.

Standards

Vehicles cleaned daily, driver checks quarterly, incidents reviewed within 24 hours. No shortcuts — it's where trust comes from.

Cross-border

Canberra and Queanbeyan are one region to the people who live here. Our operation treats them that way.
